CLOSED PRIMARIES IN FLORIDA
Florida is a closed primary election state. To vote in a primary election, specifically for the presidential race, in Florida you must be a registered Florida voter with a political party affiliation. Your political party affiliation allows you to vote in either the Republican Primary Election or the Democratic Primary Election. During the August primary, you may vote for local races using a non-partisan ballot.

Can I register to vote as a student living on campus?
Yes! You have the right to register to vote at your school address 鈥� this includes a residence hall room. Any student living in a residence hall is entitled to the same rights as any other student. To imply otherwise is illegal.
What address should I use if I live on campus?
In order to register to vote on campus, you must register with your residence hall鈥檚 physical address, not the university鈥檚 address. In addition, there is a place on the voter registration form to include a mailing address so that you can receive your mail to your student address.
