BIOGRAPHY:
Colonel Ken Gleiman (USA Retired) is a Professor of Practice at Arizona State University鈥檚
(ASU) Future Security Initiative (FSI). He teaches courses on strategy, policy, military
operations, and irregular warfare at ASU and Georgetown University and is a former
visiting fellow at Johns Hopkins University鈥檚 School of Advanced International Studies
(SAIS) where he supported the Secretary of Defense鈥檚 Strategic Thinkers Program (STP).
He was also the first U.S. military visiting fellow to the Australian Strategic Policy
Institute (ASPI) in Canberra, Australia. Ken also serves as the President and Board
Member of the Army Strategist Association.
Ken is a veteran of the United States Army where he served for 27 years in the Infantry,
Special Forces, and as an Army Strategist assisting and advising senior military and
civilian leaders in the Department of Defense. His assignments include Expert Panelist
on the DOD China Task Force; Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense
for Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities; Director of Strategy, Plans, and Assessments
for the U.S. Security Coordinator to Israel and the Palestinian Authority; Director,
U.S. Pacific Commander鈥檚 Action Group; and Director of Plans for Special Operations
Component (Afghanistan). His overseas tours include combat and operational assignments
to Israel, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Philippines as well as other assignments to
Japan, Australia, and Korea.
Dr. Gleiman鈥檚 education includes a master鈥檚 degree in Policy Management from Georgetown
University, a master鈥檚 degree from the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies
(SAMS) and a master鈥檚 in Military History from the Army鈥檚 Art of War program. Ken
earned his doctorate from Kansas State University in Security Studies and was the
one of the first U.S. Army Goodpaster Fellows. He also holds a certificate from Massachusetts
Institute of Technology鈥檚 Seminar XXI program.
